This past week witnessed South African players doing duty for overseas-based clubs put in crucial performances to aid their respective clubs’ record positive results. Some of the results coming through were for national teams currently on national duty in Malawi.

Here’s a brief breakdown of how some of these players fared for their teams:
Kobamelo Kodisang – Portuguese LigaPro
The former Bidvest Wits youngster netted the fourth goal of the match, for his eighth overall in all competitions, as Moreirense FC recorded an emphatic 4-2 victory over Estrela Amadora in the Portuguese League Cup.
Percy Tau – Egyptian Premier League
The forgotten Bafana Bafana striker continued to struggle for game time and was a second-half substitute as Al Ahly rallied from a goal down to snatch a narrow 2-1 win over El Gaish in Egypt’s Premier Division.
Al Ahly currently occupies the first position on the log standings with a 100% winning record from four matches with 12 points, two ahead of second-placed Ghazl El Mahalla.
Mihlali Mayambela – Cypriot First Division
Mayambela started the match but was hauled off later on in the match for Aris Limassol who ran out comfortable 2-0 victors over Anorthosis to move within two points of league leaders Pafos who are on 31 points after 13 points.

SA U17 Men’s & Women’s Teams
South Africa’s U17 National teams both recorded huge victories in their opening matches at the 2022 Cosafa Cup currently underway in Malawi.
The ladies’ team put neighbours Namibia to the sword with a 12-0 hammering while the men’s team put 11 unanswered goals past Seychelles.
In their next match, the men next tackle Mozambique while the ladies have already booked their spot in the semi-finals.
