Galaxy player, Ebrahim Seedat has expressed his thoughts on his coach, Sead Ramovic, especially having come to the team at a difficult time last season. He also explains why he believes Ramovic and his former coach Benni McCarthey are similar in so many ways.
The left back is currently recovering from injury that he sustained while training, but has given a glowing report card on the 43 year old Galaxy coach who has a contract with the club until 2025.
“To be honest, when he first came in October, some of the players struggled a bit,” Ebrahim Seedat told ThisIsFootball.Africa.
“Because the coach plied his trade in Germany, he brings a kind of European mentality to the team. He is very tactical, he knows what he is doing and the training sessions are very intense. His words are always, it starts in training. Once you don’t give a hundred percent in training you will never give a hundred percent in the game. What he means by that is that when we work hard in training, we will see the results in the game. He has a football brain and he brings a different dynamic to the team. We are trying to play a German style of play. Counter attacking football, as well as possession football. He brings a lot, the boys are learning every week, every single day.”
The German-born coach holds a UEFA Pro Licence with experience as an assistant coach at Serbia Super Liga side FK Novi Pazar. Probably his biggest achievement has been saving the Rockets from relegation last season. On a personal level, Seedat believes that Ramovic has improved his game tremendously.
“I think being in Cape Town, you are in your comfort zone. You have your family, especially after a bad game, you going to go home and see your family. In Joburg, it’s totally different, you don’t have your own support system. That’s where he comes in, he gives you confidence when you need it. Don’t get me wrong, all my coaches gave me confidence. But Benni McCarthy and Ramovic are the best coaches I have had in my entire career. Their mentality is the same towards the players. Sometimes when I listen to coach Ramovic speak, I can hear Benni speaking. He is a very good coach and tries to help. He speaks a lot to the individual and wants us to improve as players and as a team. “
