More refereeing issues keep cropping up at AmaZulu, who have written a letter to the PSL in the aftermath of, what they believe, is another poor decision. Usuthu are to put forward their disappointment at a disallowed goal in their match against Royal AM at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Romain Folz and Eric Tinkler have made their voices heard as well along with a number of other coaches. This time it was the president of AmaZulu.
President Sandile Zungu spoke openly about their written complaint, and they feel Referee Luxolo Badi should be dealt with, given the magnitude of his mistake.
“We have already submitted our letter of complaint to the league. It is up to the PSL rules and what sanction they are going to take,” AmaZulu president Zungu told iDiski Times.
“As far as I’m concerned, this smells more than incompetence, it smells more, I mean you remember this guy was named PSL Referee of the Season? There is something more sinister than this and It is more than just incompetence. His decision was embarrassing.
“This is the game that was broadcast live, and it provides content to the rest of the world as to what South African football is like. It is embarrassing that we are showcasing this to the world, the nonsense that we are showcasing in terms of refereeing standards.
“The game was great and I’m taking nothing away from Royal AM, they gave it their best and from my players as well. But the referee’s decision, for me, speaks to more than just incompetence. This must be investigated. I don’t accept that this is just incompetence. I think some of these referees are serving other agendas.”
What happened post match has also put South African football in a bad light when more controversy spilled over off the pitch, when a video circulated about seeing Royal AM representatives clashing with the AmaZulu security right after the match.
