Sundowns and Chiefs Look To Reshuffle Their Squads

Reigning Dstv Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns and The Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are expected to reshuffle their squads in the January transfer window. The PSL mid-season transfer window has been officially opened on Sunday, 1st January 2023.

It has been reported that Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has been assessing several players who are on trial at the club. The Soweto-based side has been looking to boost the striking position, as they only have Caleb Bimenyimana as the natural central striker occupying the number 9 position.

Zwane might be priorities to recruit in the striking position, as the Soweto giants welcomed Hungarian striker Balint Bajner (32) and Boris Koptovic (28) from Montenegro. Mozambican strikers Stanley Ratifo (28) and Amansio Joao Pita Canhembe (25), along with Congolese forward Christian Saile Basomboli (22) have been undergoing the same drills at the Naturena.

On the other end of the Gauteng province, it seems the Pretoria side Mamelodi Sundowns  are looks to offload some players, more than recruit players. Reports suggest that the likes of Gift Motupa, Lesedi Kapinga, Sifiso Ngobeni and Katlego Mahamme could be loaned out to other clubs.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena stated in the press before the PSL games resumed that there will be changes at Mamelodi Sundowns, from the technical staff to the players and that suggests that players who have  been lacking playing minutes might have to look elsewhere.

So far, there have not been any big names linked to the Mamelodi Sundowns. The reigning Dstv Premiership champions already have depth. With the likes of Marcelo Allende (23), Abubeker Nasir (22), and Sipho Mbule (24) academy graduates Cassius Mailula (21) and Musawenkosi Mdluli (24) in the ranks, Mamelodi Sundowns are sorted going in this transfer window.
