With potential suitors having failed to lure sought after Bafana Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo in the January transfer windowWith potential suitors having failed to lure sought after Bafana Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo in the January transfer window, indications are that Sundowns have not yet given up on their pursuit of the Cape Town City striker in the upcoming transfer window.
Mayo whose performances in the Dstv Premiership this season has earned him call ups to Bafana Bafana has been heavily linked with a transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns in the just passed January transfer window.
According to sources close to Masandawana, the Brazilians will go back for the 24-year old forward when the next transfer window opens.
Following their quiet January transfer window, the Tswane giant’s are said to be monitoring the Mayo situation closely, with a view of making a formal offer for the player at the end of the season to strengthen the team.
It was reported that Cape Town City had rebuffed their initial approaches from Sundowns because of a lack of suitable alternatives for the Cape based side at the time. Reports are that there are other big teams are also looking at the Mayo situation closely.
The former Richard’s Bay forward has been instrumental for the Citizens this season, as he has been involved in six goals in the 14 appearances that he has made.
Mayo who is still waiting for his first goal this year, does have a long term contract with Cape Town City, however so a substantial transfer fee will be required in order to persuade the Citizens to let him leave.
The striker could be set to reunite with some of his former City teammates at Sundowns including Bradley Ralani and Terrence Mashego.
