Thisisfootball.Africa can confirm that Tawanda Macheke has officially signed for Swallows on a two-year deal.
Macheke joined Swallows as a free agent after Maritzburg United terminating his contract during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has been training with the Dube Birds for some time since January 2023.
The towering striker made 12 appearances for Maritzburg United this season and was yet to find the back of the net.
He joined the Pietermaritzburg based side in January 2022 from Black Rhino’s, signing a two-year deal and was left with one-year on his contract upon joining Swallows.
Macheke joined The Team of Choice after a successful stint with Black Rhino’s in which he won two club accolades – Player of the year and the Golden Boot at the team awards for 2021.
The forward first played for Zimbabwean side Dynamos before moving to Black Rhino’s in January 2020.
Macheke is a direct replacement for the outgoing Ghanaian striker Daniel Gozar who is set to leave the Soweto based outfit.
