Swallows scored a late goal to upset SuperSport United, as they shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday evening. The last 15 minutes of play, saw both teams with a plenty of chances being created, but both failed to capitalize.
But it was Matsatsantsa who kept the visitors on defensive duties, as a notable Grant Margeman’s effort was saved by Thakasani Mbanjwa in the 22nd minute.
Just three minutes later, the home side were awarded a penalty, after Thamsanqa Gabuza was fouled in the box. Bradley Grobler stood up to take it, but he was unfortunate to miss it, as he slipped when he kicked the ball, as the pitch was slightly wet.
Gabuza should have opened the scoring for the hosts just towards half-time, but he hit the Swallows’ wall in the 40th minute. It was goalless at half-time, with SuperSport dominating the possession in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, United found themselves getting more chances to attack, and they took advantage in the 55th minute, as Thulani Hlatshwayo’s headed perfectly past Mbanjwa to put his side ahead.
United gave the visitors a tough time right until the end, but in the 89th minute, the visitors heaved a sigh of relief when Lindokuhle Mtshali scored his first goal of the season, as he beat Ricardo Goss to equalize the score at 1-all.
