The Hunt is on for Chiefs midfielders

Gavin Hunt

Gavin Hunt has set his sights on signing experienced players within the January transfer window, and he wants to raid his former employers Kaizer Chiefs.

As previously reported, he wants a former midfield player Phathutshedzo Nange, but another central midfielder is on his wish list from the same club.

Gavin Hunt has always been the coach that would go for tried and tested players, especially if he has worked with them before. This time his eye is on the clever and combative Cole Alexander, whose time at Naturena has been underwhelming.

He has made six appearances in all competitions, and has been somewhat of a forgotten man. One of those players that has been professional despite the limited game time, underused even though he is constantly overlooked in positions that he might be needed, following the poor defensive record of Kaizer Chiefs.

He has dropped down the pecking order, and joined Kaizer Chiefs under Stuart Baxter from Odisha FC in the Indian Soccer League, in the 2021/22 season. The fact that he is 33 years old, and Arthur Zwane has decided to put his faith in younger players, a move away seems like a good decision.

Gavin Hunt is willing and wishes to reinforce his squad, and players of more experience would be his best bet at this time of the season.

“Experience would be the best bet, at this time of the season. To increase our chances of giving rival Mamelodi Sundowns a run for the league title,” Gavin Hunt told ThisIsFootball.Africa .

“I want to reinforce my squad in this January Window period.”
