Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria, have beefed up their striking force with the signing of a highly-rated attacker from Baroka.
This Is Football.Africa has it on good authority that Tuks have snapped up Tristan Nikitaridis, who spent 2021/22 season in the DStv Premiership with Baroka as they got relegated to the National First Division.
Nikitaridis gained prominence in the 2021 Varsity Cup campaign, when he featured for University of Johannesburg, and managed to grab the attention of Bakgakga, but failed to establish himself as a regular starter. He only made three appearances for the Limpopo-based side last season.
“University of Pretoria have a clear mandate to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership ,and having a quality team is the first step to achieving the promotion,” a well placed source at Tuks told this publication.
“I can confirm that Tuks have signed Tristan Nikitaridis from Baroka on a one-year contract, with an option to extend to another year.
“The boy spent last season in the PSL with Baroka, and was released after the club were relegated to the lower league,” added the source.
The Tshwane-based outfit missed out on gaining automatic promotion to the top flight, after finishing runners-up to Richards Bay, who were crowned second tier champions in the previous season.
Meanwhile, Tlisane Motaung’s troops have turned themselves into early contenders in the Championship, and remain the only team yet to suffer a defeat since the beginning of the new campaign.
AmaTuks have won four games while drawing on five occasions, and they are placed third on the log after nine games played thus far.
