Former South African Baroka FC coach Wedson Nyirenda has said Pitso Mosimane is an “inspiration” to him and all other African coaches.

Mosimane is regarded as the most successful coach in the African continent, he won five South African league titles as well as CAF Champions League and domestic cups with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Jingles” as he is affectionately known, became more popular when he went on to win two CAF Champions League, and other major trophies with Egypt’s Al Ahly within a short period of time.

Although the Zambian coach has won more than five league titles with African teams, including Zambian club Zanaco, it is clear his respect for Mosimane is huge.

The former Kaizer Chief striker was at the helm of Bakgakga in the 2018/2019 season, where he earned Baroka their first-ever Telkom Knockout Cup in five months of his arrival.

Nyirenda, who’s currently a head coach of Mozambican club Ferroviario Da Beira FC, has revealed that he looks up to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli Jeddah’s mentor as an inspiration.

“As I always say, not all best mathematicians make good teachers of mathematics. I started taking notes of what we were doing in training when I was still a player,” Nyirenda told ThisIsFootball.Africa.

“So becoming a high-level coach now is a satisfaction that I get. I am still striving to get better every day. I learn from the best coaches above me every day. Likewise, I know my best has not even come.”

“Like, look at Pitso Mosimane, he is surely an inspiration to all of Africa. He has done great in our game. At home in SA he has done well, and he also did it in a foreign land.

“A good example of total resilience, he has gone through so much but keeps moving. I have had some excellent and educative meetings with him and must say he is a pro, so like I said I know my best has not even come, I am still learning and Mosimane proved that it’s possible.”
