Khama Billiat, who has endured much criticism recently and whose Chiefs career is under threat, has found support from a former Chiefs teammate in David Zulu. Zulu believes that Chiefs need to keep Billiat and that he will once again be the superstar of Chiefs.
The 2015/16 Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and the Premiership Midfielder of the Season has made just nine appearances this season, but he has at least assisted four times.
The Zimbabwean international who sensationally swapped his Mamelodi Sundowns jersey for the Chiefs jersey in 2018 has recently endured a difficult time at the Soweto giants.
However former teammate, David Zulu insists that Billiat has still got a lot to offer at Chiefs and that it’s just a “matter of time” until he gets his best form back.
“We all know what Khama Billiat does when he’s not injured, we will never take that away, it will never be taken away from him,” Zulu told Thisisfootball.Africa.
“It’s solely that supporters want an impressive performance from him all the time. But Billiat has been unlucky with injuries. Hence, he’s no longer the Billiat we know, the Sundowns’ Billiat.
“It’s just a matter of time for the coach to find a combination that will also suit him (Billiat). I think he still has a lot to give to the club in the next two or three years.
“He will recover, we all know what he does when he’s okay. It’s just that now that injuries have affected him. Because of that, he is not like what he was at Sundowns a few years back.”
