Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane is aware that his club needs to strengthen certain positions to bring the team back to top-level competitiveness. Zwane went on further to reveal the positions that need to be filled.
Amakhosi released a number of players including strikers Bernard Parker, Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro, Lazarous Kambole and midfielders Kearyn Bacchus and Willard Katsande among others in the past two seasons.
But the most notable departure was of the club’s development graduate, Njabulo Blom, who left to join St. Louis City SC in the USA. His departure left supporters with no choice but to call on the management to fill the void.
Speaking to reporters after Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United on Saturday, Zwane who insisted that the team has got enough good players but confirmed which positions he is likely to bolster in the current transfer window.
“Any available quality player, we will always go for them,” Zwane told reporters at FNB Stadium.
“But It depends, obviously we want to bring players that can add value. The players who will be able to deal with the pressure.
“And again, when we look at the good players that who have right now, we also feel that we would like to give them enough of a chance to prove themselves. That’s why you can’t be specific when it comes to where we intend to beef things up.
“In the middle, we still have the likes of George (Matlou), we have Cole (Alexander), Phathutshedzo Nange and young Samkelo (Zwane)who also has been doing very well, so we are still covered.
“But if we get a good midfielder, another defensive midfielder, why not bring him on board. Even a striker because we need players who can add value in the team.”
The wounded Glamour Boys visit AmaZulu at the Moses Mabidha Stadium on Friday in the DStv Premiership encounter, with a match set for 19h30. Chiefs occupy fourth position on the log’s table.
